Historical LNG production in billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) The U.S. is poised to surpass Qatar and Australia to become a world leader in the export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in 2022. The U.S. Energy Information Administration has projected that the U.S. will fulfill 22% of the global LNG demand of 53.3 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) by supplying 11.5 bcfd in 2022. More: - The U.S. currently has large reserves of LNG and is projected to grow in the next few years.
- America has been supplying the majority of the global demand for LNG, which has risen in recent years due to the strong demand in China and other Asian countries.
- Global LNG demands have continued growing YoY since hitting an all-time high in 2015.
- The U.S. is expected to lead LNG exports until 2025 as Cheniere Energy, the largest exporter in the U.S., has signed numerous long-term deals to sell LNG, most of which have come from Chinese buyers.
- South Korea, China, and Japan comprised the three largest U.S. LNG importers, respectively, acquiring 13%, 13%, and 10% of the U.S LNG supply.
- As they fulfill expanding energy demand while moving from coal to cleaner renewables, utilities throughout the world have been using gas to keep electricity rates relatively low and maintain dependable electric systems.
- Although LNG is less polluting than coal or oil, burning more evenly and emitting lower emissions, unburned gas or methane released in the atmosphere contributes to global warming.
- Upcoming three LNG projects set to go forward the next year are:
- Cheniere's Stage 3 expansion at Corpus Christi in Texas.
- Venture Global's Plaquemines in Louisiana.
- Tellurian Inc's Driftwood in Louisiana.

- The U.S. market for batteries is slated to grow between $13B to $14B by 2030, from $1B in 2020.
- Battery projects linked with solar farms are eligible for a 26% credit, while residents of California and Hawaii can also get incentives for home battery packs.
