GoTo, Indonesia’s super app, saw its shares jump as much as 23% during its IPO and were up 15% to $.03 (388 rupiahs) at midday break in Jakarta, valuing the company at about $32B. The company raised a total of $1.1B in the offering, marking it the third-largest IPO in Indonesian history. More: - Thanks to its successful debut, GoTo has bucked recent trends that saw many tech companies scrap or delay IPO plans in the face of unreliable market conditions.
- It only issued 4% of its stock, which included multiple class voting shares in a first for a domestic company. It was also the first to tap new rules allowing unprofitable firms to list directly on the bourse’s main board.
- Although the company has yet to achieve stable profitability, it enjoys a leadership position in its home country, which is home to over 270 million people.
- The company’s ubiquitousness could be seen in Indonesian President Joko Widodo giving a short address during a ceremony marking the debut, lauding the company for motivating young Indonesians to “lend new energy to the technological leap in this country’s economy.”
- The size of Indonesia’s digital market has been estimated at $70B. Record venture funding has contributed to the creation of a wave of startups.
- The size of that market is forecast to grow by five times to $330B by 2030.

It also took the top slot for the number of rounds, with 87 in total. More: - In both measures, second place also went to a PE/growth equity investor instead of a classic VC.

A message from EQUITYBEE In order to attract and retain talent, some companies are now giving employees more flexible stock options. What’s in it for them? - ESOs can turn into a financially life-changing opportunity. That’s why workplaces use them as an incentive.
- Getting a share of the company gives employees a sense of ownership and connection.
But that sense of ownership only truly means something if you exercise your options and become a shareholder. That’s what Equitybee is for. We help startup employees to exercise their stock options and participate in the success of the companies they helped build, by funding the full costs of the exercise (including taxes!).
