Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said he expects electric vehicle battery shortages in 2024 to 2025, to be followed by an undersupply of raw materials by 2027 to 2028. The automaker believes this will slow down EV adoption. More: - "The speed at which we are trying to move all together for the right reason, which is fixing the global warming issue, is so high that the supply chain and the production capacities have no time to adjust," said Tavares.
- Tavares also criticized government EV adoption plans, such as the U.K. proposal to ban the sale of ICE-based vehicles by 2030 and the White House's goal for 50% of vehicles to be EVs by the end of the decade. "Stop playing with the rules. Leave the rules as they are and let people work properly," he said.
