At today's AWE USA 2022, the XR development company Campfire presented its Campfire Studio Console suite. The console generates full-body holograms that allow for collaborative work in virtual, 3D environments. The console is designed for open workspaces with room for workers to move atop a modular mat. Users can walk around and engage with digital objects, structures, or environments. More: - Users wear Campfire headsets with optional visors to enter 3D digital environments.
- The headsets provide high-quality holographic images of people, screens, and the environment within a 92-degree FOW.
- The program requires a VR-ready GPU Windows PC with a Thunderbolt 3 port and Dell Precision-certified workstations.
- The entire Campfire suite includes XR products, including a "Campfire pack" that transforms smartphones into VR controllers.
- For desktop workers who don't need the Studio Console, Campfire also has a smaller console that projects holograms onto one's desk.
- Campfire Viewer allows users without headsets to engage in the 3D environments from their PC, iPad, or phone.
- The console addresses shortcomings resulting from engaging 3D data on 2D screens.
- Industries use VR hard- and software to develop physical projects more easily and quickly.
- The console allows workers to collaborate safely across borders.
- The project resulted from user feedback. Users sought a high-quality, holographic experience.
- According to Campfire CEO Jay Wright, "We received feedback that customers quite literally want to use Campfire to build bigger and better things. The Studio Console is a direct result of that feedback."
- The feedback came from early adopters of Campfire's technology in various industries, including aerospace, apparel, automotive, and retail.

Firms and public organizations, including the U.S. military, are incorporating VR into their pilot training programs. Training modules, including Pilot Training Next and the Sprint VR trainer, prepare pilots before taking to the skies. By allowing pilots to practice for numerous possibilities on the ground, companies save time and money while boosting pilots' confidence. More: - CAE's Sprint VR trainer is one example of groundbreaking flight training.
- The program can grade an assess pilots' training on the ground and using the program's accompany stick, throttle, and rudder controls.
- The self-paced training tools allow future or current pilots to familiarize themselves with numerous procedures and flight maneuvers in an immersive environment.
- Miltary customers can also use CAE's Mission Augmented Virtual Reality or Rear Crew Trainer (MAVRC).
- The program recreates an aircraft fuselage in VR and allows crews to cooperatively train while wearing VR headsets.
- Modules cover various scenarios, including search and rescue, door gun training, medical evacuations, and landings.
- The U.S. Air Force is also using VR for its undergraduate program.
- The program reduces the time needed before flying in real life.
- FlightDeckToGo is another flight training program developed by Visionary Training Resources (VTR).
- Using an untethered device, users can train anywhere.
- According to VTR's CEO Evey Cormican, "The beauty of VTR's FlightDeckToGo is that it expands the opportunity for pilots to easily spend more time in their new work environment, the flight deck."
- According to one 2021 study, VR learners saw their confidence increase by 275% and retained 400% more of what they learned when compared to traditional training methods.
