| 5 | | NBC announced its fall primetime line-up for the 2023-2024 season. The slate includes just three new scripted series, all of which went into production prior to the WGA strike. More: - The new shows -- dramas "Found" and "The Irrational," and the comedy "Extended Family" -- were all picked up early, outside of the traditional development cycle; several episodes have already been produced for each title.
- "Found" was due to premiere in February but the network pushed back its debut to the fall.
- A number of returning series -- including "Night Court" and "Quantum Leap" -- also prepped for the strike by banking some Season 2 episodes early.
- Dick Wolf's "One Chicago" and "Law & Order" franchises, however, remain on NBC's slate and don't have additional episodes ready to go without writers; should the strike continue into the fall, they will need to be replaced by alternative content.
- Unscripted series including "The Voice" and "The Wall" will help to fill out the network's schedule until writers return to work.

| 6 | | According to Rotten Tomatoes, Netflix's new docudrama "Queen Cleopatra" -- Season 2 of the "African Queens" historical anthology -- has proved unpopular with both critics and audiences. The show has just an 11% score among critics, and an extremely low 2% score from viewers. More: - According to Forbes, this is the lowest audience score in the history of Netflix originals; even widely unpopular shows, such as the streamer's recent "Resident Evil" adaptation, usually end up with audience scores in the teens or 20s.
- The casting of Black British actress Adele James in the role of Queen Cleopatra has proved controversial, particularly in Egypt, where a number of academics and government officials have condemned the series.
- During a recent appearance on the "Wayne Ayers Podcast," James responded to the controversy, saying "I find it sad that people are either so self-loathing or so threatened by Blackness that they feel the need to... separate Egypt from the rest of the continent."
- The first season of "African Queens" related the story of warrior Queen Njinga of Angola; both seasons were produced and narrated by Jada Pinkett Smith.
