GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke announced the general availability of Copilot Enterprise with three core features. The code completion tool and chatbot are available for $39 per month per user.

Copilot Enterprise facilitates faster feature implementation, issue resolution, and code modernization through streamlined code navigation and comprehension.
It integrates chat with the platform, allowing developers to ask questions and receive natural language responses directly on their codebase.
Further, Copilot Enterprise allows reviewers to analyze pull request diffs to quickly understand proposed changes.
Last year, research conducted by Accenture revealed that 90% of developers spent less time searching for information, and 88% of respondents retained code suggested by Copilot.

In a report published earlier this week, the White House Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD) asked developers to switch to memory-safe programming languages. The White House urged developers to make the change to "protect the security of our nation."

The report pointed to C and C++ as programming languages with memory vulnerabilities and named Rust as an alternative that is considered safe.
The ONCD also criticized software vendors for insufficient investment in securing development practices and their customers for their lack of demand for higher-quality software due to a lack of understanding in measuring it.
According to research conducted by Google and Microsoft, memory safety issues cause 70% of all security vulnerabilities.
In response, members of the ISO C++ Directions Group challenged the ONCD's notion that C++ lacks security measures while highlighting its formal specification, memory model, and active community of users and implementers.

Generative AI coding tool Magic AI raised a $117M Series B round. The funding round was led by NFDG Ventures, with participation from CapitalG and Elad Gil.

Magic AI positions itself as a collaborative tool rather than a code-completion tool like its competitors, such as GitHub Copilot, Amazon CodeWhisperer, Codeium, Tabine, etc.
The startup released an LTM Net model last year with a context window of 5 million tokens, well above Gemini 1.5, which hits 1 million tokens in limited experiments.
Magic AI currently operates in stealth and claims to have deployed thousands of GPUs training its next-generation models.
The Series B round pushes the startup's total funding to $145M, including a $23M Series A round.

At the World Governments Summit in Dubai, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said students should not prioritize learning computer science and coding as AI will make everyone a programmer. He highlighted that everyone is talking about AI as it is closing the technology divide.

Huang predicted that AI would enhance the value of workers who synthesize large amounts of data as they are no longer required to code or collaborate with developers.
He apologized to the past decade of Computer Science graduates and declared that they would have been better off gaining expertise in fields like science, manufacturing, or farming.
Industry analyst Patrick Moorhead argued that AI takes programming to more people but will not kill coding.

New Tools and Updates:

Chrome 123 allows using the align-content property from CSS Box Alignment on block and table layouts, enabling block direction alignment without requiring a flex or grid layout, although updates to CSS may be necessary if align-content is used outside of these layout methods previously.
The Deno team released Deno 1.41 with improvements that reduce the size of deno compile binaries by half, enhance Node.js compatibility, and improve auto-completion in LSP and Deno APIs.
Remix v2.7.0 offers stable support for Vite, which includes support for building static sites that don't require a JavaScript server in production, Cloudflare Pages support, and more.
Lightning CSS v1.24 adds support for the light-dark() color function, parses CSS system colors, deduplicates custom properties during modification, merges duplicate @keyframes rules, and fixes bugs.
Locofy Lightning, a tool that converts Figma designs to frontend code with a single click, was launched recently on ProductHunt.
