INTERVIEW: "SUPERNATURAL THEN AND NOW" HOSTS
Flashback to 2006. Yours truly is 11 years old and has just discovered "Supernatural" – a CW show featuring two brothers who are out to hunt supernatural creatures, find their father, and inevitably, save the world. Little did I know that the show and the fandom would carry me through wayward times in my life till its series finale aired in 2020 and even after.
Cut to 2022. I find myself having the pleasure and privilege to interview cast members Rob Benedict (Carver Edlund) and Richard Speight Jr. (The Trickster/Gabriel.)

The two host the ongoing rewatch podcast "Supernatural Then and Now," which recently launched season two. While both Rob and Rich have been part of the TV series since pretty early on, they have never watched the show itself. I talked to them about the podcast and what they think about the TV show.
Shreya Sharma (SS): How has the journey been for you?
Richard Speight Jr. (RS): For two guys who are heavily involved in the show and spearheaded the monumental convention circuit but haven't actually watched the show, it's been a really interesting journey. To say it was a discovery is an understatement. Rob and I were basically hearing quotes and seeing scenes that we've been exposed to for over a decade and are making the connections. With season one, we got our feet wet, and season two is bigger and better.
Rob Benedict (RB): We started this season with a bang. We opened up with an interview with Jensen Ackles and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, which was super fun to do and really was a reunion. They got to talk about things that they really never talked about before in terms of the show.
SS: What's new about season two?
RS: In season one Steve Hein, our executive producer, kind of spearheaded the whole thing with the blessing of ("Supernatural" creator) Eric Kripke.
We've taken this to a certain level using Steve's expertise, the power of the fandom, and the generosity of the crew and cast of the show. But now we're taking it up a level. Now we're partnering with RedCircle. We've got a great podcast here; it's entertaining for first-time and long-time viewers. With RedCircle, we're gonna be able to expand our reach and get this podcast out to a bigger and broader group. WWe'resuper excited to be partnering with them.
