Oracle is now auditing TikTok's algorithms and content moderation models, Axios has learned. The update follows a report that said some TikTok employees in China accessed U.S. user data via servers in the country. As a result, TikTok is now routing its U.S. traffic to Oracle servers. More: - This has allowed Oracle to monitor TikTok's systems amid concerns from U.S. lawmakers that China's government could unduly influence and manipulate TikTok's U.S. app.
- Specifically, Oracle can oversee how TikTok's algorithm delivers content to ensure the recommendation models aren't being "manipulated."
- Oracle will regularly audit TikTok's feed algorithm and automated systems for moderation.
- The update comes after BuzzFeed reported in June that engineers from ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, repeatedly accessed U.S. users' private data.
- According to Axios, all new U.S. user traffic for TikTok is now being routed to Oracle cloud infrastructure.
