Hi Inside Community, Today we hosted one of our best AMA interviews yet — this time with Jason Fried, the founder and CEO of 37signals. (You’ve probably heard of his products Basecamp and HEY, if you haven’t used them yourself.) Jason is a founder and executive with more than two decades of experience, making this a golden opportunity to ask him about his work with startups, product, and everything else he has done along the way. The AMA kicked off at 11 a.m. PDT, and it’s already packed with insights and answers. —The Inside Team | | Courtney
Tinder CEO Renate Nyborg has left her position as the company cancels its metaverse ambitions. Parent company MAtch Group reported disappointing earnings for the last quarter; its earnings fell short of analyst expectations at $795M vs. an expected $804M. - Match Group acquired Hyperconnect last year, contributing to $10M in operating losses in Q2 2022, down from $210M in the same quarter last year.
- Hyperconnect focuses on video, AI, and AR technology that uses avatar-based experiences in the virtual world.
- The Tinder Coins program was intended to generate revenue, but it did not deliver results in limited release. Kim said the company will reevaluate its plans for Tinder Coins, which had been scheduled to roll out broadly in Q3 2022.

A message from WIND RIVER Can the VxWorks real-time operating system fill your embedded system needs? A real-time operating system (RTOS) is an operating system with two key features: predictability and determinism. In an RTOS, repeated tasks are performed within a tight time boundary, while in a general-purpose operating system, this is not necessarily so. Predictability and determinism, in this case, go hand in hand: We know how long a task will take, and that it will always produce the same result. - Determinism: Repeating an input will result in the same output.
- High performance: RTOS systems are fast and responsive, often executing actions within a small fraction of the time needed by a general OS.
- Safety and security: As RTOSes are frequently used in critical systems, such as robotics or flight controllers, they must have higher security standards and more reliable safety features.
- Priority-based scheduling: Actions are scheduled according to their assigned priority; the most important tasks come first.
- Small footprint: Versus their hefty general OS counterparts, RTOSes weigh in at just a fraction of the size: Windows 10, with post-install updates, takes up approximately 20 GB. VxWorks, on the other hand, is measured in the low single-digit megabytes.
In this webinar, we'll go through some of the features of real-time operating systems that can revolutionize your embedded development process, and make sure that an RTOS is the right solution for your use-case. Watch Now

A message from PERCENT Crypto’s Bad Year The global cryptocurrency market is down over 55%, around $1.20 trillion dollars since the start of the year. Bitcoin, the dominant crypto asset, alone saw a 51% decrease YTD, as other tokens — Ethereum, stablecoins, and the thousands of “altcoins” — followed suit. Yet the money withdrawn from crypto markets is not disappearing into thin air. It is being converted into fiat currency and stored elsewhere, often at a loss. Instead of keeping capital in an account earning low or no interest, private credit investments can offer investors the opportunity to earn high-yield interest over short terms. Find out if this yield-generating asset class can help you earn double-digit returns during the Crypto Winter. Find Out Today
Kappel Operations and Maintenance workers wear 5G-powered AR/VR glasses to complete site inspections, monitor digital twins, and conduct virtual walkthroughs. The pilot program is funded by Singapore's 5G Innovation Programme. More: - The glasses generate real-time data to improve workflows, lower operating costs, and reduce carbon emissions.
- Combining cameras, microphones, 5G connectivity, speakers, and AR-powered displays, employees wearing the glasses work cooperatively and more efficiently.
- Wearers can effectively inspect worksites, monitor digital twins, and conduct virtual walkthroughs.
- On-sight examinations: managers can oversee staff and connect with them remotely. Wearers can pull up virtual to-do lists, access remote guidance, and utilize instructional overlays to increase work efficiency by 50%.
- Monitoring digital twins: while wearing the glasses, workers can update the facility's digital twins so engineers can identify potential issues or alter methodologies.
- Remote guidance: information processed by the glasses provides clients and engineers with real-time data that can "validate designs," "reduce pre-construction risks," or "spot design flaws."
