Adobe has agreed to buy design platform Figma for $20B in cash and stock. The deal is expected to close in 2023, and Figma co-founder CEO Dylan Field will stay on as the company's leader. More: - Adobe's stock price was down as much as 15% following the announcement.
- The acquisition cost was criticized by David Wagner, a portfolio manager at Aptus Capital Advisors, which owns a 1.5% stake in Adobe.
- "It tends to not be a great sign when a company has to acquire to defend share. It's not a sustainable solution," Wagner said.
- Software designers use Figma's cloud-based collaboration tools to design and build web applications. Zoom, Airbnb, and Coinbase are among the companies that use its platform.
- As part of the agreement, either party will have to pay a $1B termination fee if they decide to abandon the deal.

Retired Army Brigadier General Donald Bolduc won the New Hampshire GOP Senate Primary on Wednesday. Bolduc, who has said he believes former President Trump won the 2020 election, will face Democratic incumbent Senator Maggie Hassan in November. More: - Bolduc was not formally endorsed by Trump, but Trump praised the candidate as a "strong... tough guy" on his Truth Social media platform after Bolduc won on Wednesday.
- Moderate Republican Governor Chris Sununu previously called Bolduc a conspiracy theorist and argued that Bolduc's rival, Hampshire state Senate President Chuck Morse, was more likely to beat Hassan.
- Bolduc responded by calling Sununu a "Chinese communist sympathizer."
- Some Democratic groups ran ads supporting Bolduc in the Republican primary in the belief that he will be the easier candidate for Hassan to beat in November.

GOOD NEWS: After former astronaut Vance Brand donated 40 acres of adjacent land to Rocky Mountain National Park in 2019, the land has officially been added to the park's borders. The land, which is on the park's eastern boundary, will be linked to the park's scenic trail network. More: - The Brand family met with park staff and officials from the Rocky Mountain Conservancy on Monday to celebrate the official addition of the land to the park.
- Brand said he decided to buy the land in 1967 because he had spent time hiking, climbing, and camping in the area when he was young.
- "Over time my family has developed an appreciation of the natural beauty of the land and have encouraged keeping it as it is," he added.
- Brand, who retired from NASA in 2008, flew in four space missions in 1975, 1982, 1984, and 1990.

The founder of the Wagner Group, a Russian mercenary company, was filmed recruiting prisoners to fight for Russia in Ukraine. The footage shows Yevgeniy Prigozhin telling Russian prisoners that their sentences would be commuted if they fought with his group for six months. More: - The offer is technically illegal under Russian law, which doesn't allow the commutation of prison sentences in exchange for mercenary services.
- The footage shows Prigozhin telling the prisoners: "if you arrive in Ukraine and decide it's not for you, we will execute you."
- He also told them that 40 inmates from a prison in St Petersburg were deployed to Ukraine in June.
- The BBC geolocated the footage to a prison in Mariy El, in the East European Plain of Russia.
- Prigozhin, a Putin ally, has denied links to the Wagner Group, but the footage shows him identifying the Wagner Group by name.
- Concord, a company owned by Prigozhin, did not deny the authenticity of the footage when asked by Russian media.
