In a memo to colleagues, Amazon Prime Video's global head of sports, Jay Marine, referred to the company's first Thursday Night Football broadcast as a "resounding success." Though Amazon is working with Nielsen to measure the Thursday Night Football viewing audience as accurately as possible, this data is not yet available. More: According to Marine, Amazon saw its three most active hours of Prime sign-ups in history during the broadcast; this apparently includes the company's yearly Prime Day, Cyber Monday, and Black Friday promotions. In the first of 15 NFL broadcasts this season to stream on Prime Video, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 27-24 at Arrowhead Stadium. Prime Video spent an estimated $1 billion per season for the exclusive streaming rights to "TNF" games. DEADLINE

New research from the Mozilla Foundation indicates that a number of YouTube features designed to give users power over their feeds -- such as the "dislike" button -- don't actually have much of an effect on recommended videos. Pressing dislike, for example, only reduced recommendations of similar content by 12%, according to the report. More: Pressing "don't recommend this channel" was 43% effective in reducing unwanted recommendations, while pressing "not interested" was only 11% effective, and removing a video from a user's watch history was 29% effective. 22,700 participants took part in the survey, which looked at more than 567 million YouTube videos. Participants had to download a tool -- RegretReporter -- specifically for collecting relevant data, a requirement which itself impacts the results. YouTube responded to the report, explaining that giving users total control over filtering topics and viewpoints would create "echo chambers"; spokeswoman Elena Hernandez suggested that the Mozilla report "doesn't take into account how our systems actually work." More: NBC's new deal with the HFPA only extends for a single year. Following a string of controversies and complaints about diversity within the HFPA's ranks, NBC declined to broadcast the award show in 2022. A number of content creators, publicists, and other insiders have opposed the move, due to concerns that the HFPA has not made significant enough changes to its internal processes and membership. Golden Globe nominations will be announced on December 12. DEADLINE

Paulson and Shamblin Sarah Paulson will star in and executive produce an HBO Max scripted series about Remnant Fellowship Church founder and weight loss guru Gwen Shamblin. The new project is based on the docuseries "The Way Down: God, Greed, and the Cult of Gwen Shamblin," which also streamed on HBO Max. More: Shamblin rose to fame first as the creator of the Christian-based diet program Weigh Down Workshop, and later as the founder and spiritual leader of the Remnant Fellowship Church. The docuseries examined allegations of emotional, psychological, and physical abuse against Shamblin and her organization. While the docuseries was in production, Shamblin and her husband died in a plane crash; the show went on hiatus and returned with two additional episodes dealing with the aftermath of the accident and her legacy. "The Act" vet Michelle Dean will serve as showrunner and producer on the new series. DEADLINE

QUICK HITS Spending a lot of time managing your cloud infrastructure? Free up your schedule by using intelligent technology to streamline CloudOps.* Chris Redd is the latest "Saturday Night Live" cast member to announce his exit prior to the show's 48th season; he joins Alex Moffat, Mellisa Villaseñor, Aristotle Athari, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, and Pete Davidson. According to a report in Fortune, a number of marquee profit participants in recent Paramount films -- including "Top Gun: Maverick" star Tom Cruise, Sandra Bullock, and the "Jackass" creators -- feel that they've been cheated out of some potential earnings by the studio's complex distribution deals with Epix. Hulu dropped a trailer for "Welcome to Chippendales," its upcoming limited series about the creation of the male stripping revue and its founder, Somen "Steve" Banerjee (Kumail Nanjiani); the series debuts on November 22. In an interview with The Wrap, Kevin Smith explained that his 1999 religious satire "Dogma" remains unavailable on streaming platforms because it was funded by disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein, who's now holding the film "hostage." Redditors who purchaed GameStop stock in 2021 have taken issue with a trailer for Netflix's upcoming documentary "Eat the Rich: The GameStop Saga," and in particular, the use of the phrase "YOLO, let's destroy the economy" by Washington Post journalist Taylor Lorenz. "When They See Us" Emmy winner Jharrel Jerome joined Steven Soderbergh's upcoming HBO Max limited series "Full Circle"; the cast also includes Zazie Beetz, Claire Danes, Timothy Olyphant, and Dennis Quaid. "Dancing with the Stars" made a number of sweeping changes in its move from ABC to Disney+, in part because the lack of ad breaks makes episodes significantly longer. The French-US animation studio ZAG launched a streaming content unit and will begin developing the superhero series "Fairyon." *This is sponsored content
