Breaking News: Jan. 6 panel plans to vote on Trump subpoena

The Jan. 6 select panel plans to vote on subpoenaing former President Donald Trump, according to a person familiar with the situation.

Trump's testimony is one of the last remaining threads for the select panel's investigators, though it's not immediately clear whether the former president – who has routinely denounced their work – would comply with a summons.

Some members of Trump's closest inner circle, like his daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner, have testified to the select panel. The Jan. 6 committee's chair, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), indicated Thursday the panel was likely to take votes at the end of the hearing on future investigative steps. NBC first reported the select panel's plans for a subpoena vote.
