Elon Musk plans to move forward with his proposal to acquire Twitter at the original offer price of $54.20 a share, Bloomberg reported Tuesday. Unidentified sources said Musk made the offer in a letter sent to Twitter. Details of that letter were not available. More: - After the news was reported, Twitter shares climbed 15% on Tuesday.
- In April, Musk offered to take Twitter private for $44B, or $54.20 a share, which was agreed upon by Twitter's board.
- He later sought to abandon the agreement, citing a lack of data about the number of fake and spam accounts on the platform and other issues.
- Twitter subsequently sued Musk to force him to follow through with the transaction. The trial was scheduled to begin on Oct. 17 in the Delaware Court of Chancery.

On Tuesday, the European Parliament overwhelmingly approved a new law requiring all mobile phones, tablets, and cameras to adopt USB-C charging ports by the end of 2024. The legislation is expected to have the biggest impact on Apple, which will have to switch to a standard USB-C connector for iPhones sold in the EU. More: - The law will apply to all phones, tablets, and earbuds with up to 100W power delivery that are sold in the EU.
- Laptops will need to adopt the common charger by spring 2026.
- Supporters say the change would reduce environmental waste and save customers money.
- Currently, Apple laptops and iPad Pro models have USB-C charging. The company has already been testing iPhone models that replace the Lightning port with USB-C.
- The legislation still requires final approval from the European Council, a likely formality. It could become a formal law in 2023, after which member states will have a year to transpose the rules.

A message from KALSHI Election Betting Markets may be coming soon For decades, being an investor meant buying exposure to a broad spectrum of factors outside of your intended investment: political change, the economy, consumer sentiment and more. Your investments are your decisions, and you should be able to control both completely. That’s why Kalshi built an entirely new asset class — one that Wall Street has never shared – so every American can take back control of their investment decisions: The event contract. Event contracts on Kalshi let you trade real world events on the first ever fully CFTC-regulated exchange. And the decision couldn't be simpler: will something happen, or not? Traders can buy "Yes" or "No" shares tied to specific future events — like "Has inflation peaked?" As the event becomes more likely to happen, the value of the share appreciates. You can sell the shares any time, or hold until the market resolves. Will the Republicans win control of the house? Will the US go into recession? Will 2022 be the hottest year on record? Will there be a moon landing before 2025? Whatever your view, Kalshi lets you trade it. Trade Politics & More | |

Tesla showed off two prototypes of its Optimus humanoid robot during its AI Day event last Friday. CEO Elon Musk estimates the robots would cost less than $20,000 to produce. Customers will be able to order the robot "within three years" and "probably not more than five years," he predicted. More: - The first prototype, Bumble C, is a rough development bot created using "semi-off-the-shelves" actuators.
- During a presentation, the robot was able to walk on stage and wave to the audience. Tesla showed prerecorded demos of the robot performing tasks like moving boxes and picking up a can.
- The second prototype, though unable to walk on its own, resembled more of the final version that Tesla expects to go into production.
- That version operates using Tesla-designed actuators, power electronics, and a 2.3 kWh battery pack, powering about a day's worth of work from a single charge, Musk said.
- The robot will utilize the same underlying technology as Tesla's self-driving systems.
