Amazon's "The Rings of Power" Nielsen's rankings for September indicated that broadcast networks regained some ground among US viewers, but not enough to make up for the still-growing popularity of streaming platforms. Streaming still accounted for 36.9% of all TV use in September, up from 35% in August. More: Paramount Global's Pluto TV became the first free ad-supported (or FAST) streaming platform to make Nielsen's list; it accounted for 1% of all US TV use in September. The surge in streaming in September was partly due to new and popular content like Amazon's "Rings of Power" and "Thursday Night Football" franchises, but also resulted from Nielsen updating its methodology for measuring viewership. Previously, Nielsen only counted live viewers; it will now include live views along with numbers for the show's first seven days online. HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

Netflix dropped a trailer for the upcoming fifth season of "The Crown," introducing Imelda Staunton as the show's latest Queen Elizabeth. The new season -- the first to be released since the deaths of Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip -- arrives on November 9. More: Season 5 of "The Crown" is set in the 1990s and features the divorces of The Queen's four children, a fire in Windsor Castle, and Princess Diana's death in 1997. Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West co-star in Season 5 as Diana and Prince Charles. Celebrated English actress and Oscar winner Judi Dench wrote an open letter to The Times UK this week criticizing the series as "cruelly unjust" in its depiction of the royal family, and urging Netflix to add a disclaimer to "The Crown" noting that it's fictionalized. According to the international human rights organization Global Witness, YouTube and Facebook allowed disinformation to spread regarding the Brazilian presidential election. Global Witness purposefully produced a series of misleading ads for both services that urged Brazilians not to vote, questioned the credibility of the elections themselves, and provided a fake date for submitting ballots. More: According to Global Witness, all 11 of their ads were approved by Facebook in late July and August, while half of the ads were still approved in a second test just one month before the runoff election. The second test -- held between October 11 and 13 -- also included YouTube, which also accepted every ad submitted by Global Witness, including those which provided a fake election date. Incumbent right-wing president Jair Bolsonaro is currently in an extremely tight runoff race with former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. A spokesperson for Meta, Facebook's parent company, said that the company had invested significant resources to protect the sanctity of Brazil's election, and had rejected 135,000 related ad submissions. Though YouTube accepted all of Global Witness' ads, the Google-owned site responded that it had "reviewed the ads in question and removed those that violated our policies." As no candidate for president received more than half of the votes, a runoff election will be held in Brazil on October 30. THE GUARDIAN

A new four-part Netflix true-crime docuseries, "Vatican Girl," looks back at the disappearance of 15-year-old Emanuela Orlandi. Orlandi, the daughter of a Vatican employee who lived inside Vatican City State, vanished in 1983 outside of an Opus Dei church. More: The series comes from "Don't F**k With Cats" veteran Mark Lewis and debuted today on Netflix. Though it explores a number of potential theories about what happened to Orlandi, ultimately it suggests someone at The Vatican knows more than they have indicated to date. Suspects covered in the series include the KGB, the Italian Mafia, the Russian Mafia, and Turkish terrorists, along with potential ties to the 1981 assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II. The series debuts on Netflix today. THE DAILY BEAST

Justin Chon ("Pachinko") will executive produce and also direct the show's first two episodes. DEADLINE
