Comcast released its third-quarter financial results on Thursday, revealing that Peacock has passed 15 million paid subscribers in the US. NBCUniversal took an adjusted EBITDA loss (meaning "earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization") of $614 million on the service. More: - NBCU CEO Jeff Shell said the ultimate goal was flexibility, for Peacock to reach a level of popularity and profitability that content can go either to linear broadcast networks or the streaming service, with little to no impact on the company's bottom line.
- NBCU's service remains significantly smaller than competitors like Netflix (with 223 million global subs) and Disney (with 152 million), limiting potential growth.

Chapek Speaking at the Wall Street Journal's Tech Live Conference this week, Disney CEO Bob Chapek described how the company's streaming platforms and theme parks can unite to deliver a "customized and personalized" experience for consumers. Chapek said that the company wants to know if Disney+ users have recently visited a Disney park, and "what [they] liked the last time [they] visited a park," and vice-versa. More: - The company is apparently seeking technical solutions to these problems at present (for example, allowing Disney+ to present you with "Pirates of the Caribbean"-themed content if you went on the ride at Disneyland last month).
- The CEO stirred controversy with one answer relating to Disney+, suggesting that, after parents put their children to bed, "then they're probably not going to tune in to another animated movie, they want something for them"; the response was seen as dismissive toward adult animation fans.
- Responding to a question about the "woke Disney" label that has sometimes been applied to the company's content, Chapek said they seek to tell stories that "reflect the rich, diverse world we live in."
- Chapek also affirmed that ESPN will remain part of the company, calling it "the power brand" for sports fans.

Cast members from Netflix and the BBC's "The Crown" responded to criticisms of the show's depiction of the British royal family. Jonathan Pryce, who stars as Prince Philip in the show's upcoming fifth season, told Deadline he's "bitterly disappointed" by colleagues who insisted that the show carry a disclaimer noting that it's a work of fiction. More: - In a recent interview with The Times, Judi Dench called the series "cruelly unjust" to members of the royal family and "damaging to the institution they represent."
- Netflix subsequently added a written disclaimer to the Season 5 trailer for "The Crown" on YouTube.
- Pryce noted "the vast majority of people know it's a drama."
- Lesley Manville, who portrays Princess Margaret in Season 5, said that she thinks the criticisms arise from "a great deal of compassion towards the Queen," particularly in light of her recent passing.
