Arcimoto halts production / Shell acquires Volta Charging / China starts state-owned ride-hailing service

1. Arcimoto revealed it is halting the production of three-wheeled vehicles at its factory in Eugene, Oregon, citing the need for additional funding to proceed. The company warned that it might not be able to obtain financing, which would force it to file for bankruptcy.  Read more on Inside.com. 2. Shell announced the acquisition of EV charging company Volta for $169M in an all-cash deal. Volta went public in 2021 through a SPAC merger with Tortoise Acquisition Corp II.  Read more on Inside.com.  3. China is launching a state-owned ride-hailing and flight services company, Qiangguo Jiaotong. The Chinese government set up the company after its investigation into the ride-sharing service Didi over data privacy concerns. 4. NASA and Boeing plan to work on a full-scale Transonic Truss-Braced Wing concept, which entails extra-long, thin wings stabilized by diagonal struts for fuel efficiency. The entities plan to spend $1B on the project. 5. Tritium revealed it received its largest order (amount undisclosed) for EV chargers from BP, which follows a previous order by the energy company for 1,000 units. The energy company plans to install chargers in the U.S., U.K., Europe, and Australia. 6. Lime is launching e-scooters and e-bikes in Doha, Qatar. The operator, which recently launched in Abu Dhabi, aims to launch in one more city in the MENA region this quarter. 7. The U.K. government announced it is earmarking £16M (~$19.7M) from the Net Zero Innovation Portfolio for smart charging infrastructure for EVs.
