Gaetz expected to flip his vote to McCarthy

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) is expected to flip his vote after midnight on Saturday, a shift that would deliver Kevin McCarthy the speakership if the previous ballots hold.

According to three GOP lawmakers, party leaders told members that Gaetz was expected to switch his vote to solidify McCarthy. That turn by Gaetz would hand the California Republican victory mere minutes after he had dealt McCarthy a stunning, theatrical failure as the deciding vote on the 14th ballot earlier Friday night.
