Rivian fell slightly short of its production target for 2022 / Eve Air Mobility raised ~$100M / Piedmont Lithium renegotiates Tesla contract

Let's take a look at what is happening in transportation:

1. Rivian fell slightly short of its 25,000-unit production target for 2022, building 24,337 vehicles. In Q4, the EV maker produced 10,020 units.

Q: Do you think Rivian will surpass its 2022 production goals this year? Share your thoughts.

2. Eve Air Mobility raised ~$100M from BNEDS, the Brazilian development bank, as it seeks to certify its four-passenger eVTOL. The new funds bring Eve's liquidity past $400M.

3. Piedmont Lithium negotiated an amendment to its contract with Tesla to supply 125,000 metric tons of spodumene concentrate between H1 2023 and the end of 2025 through Sayona Quebec. The contract had originally intended for 53,000 metric tons per year between July 2022 and July 2023 through Piedmont's mine in North Carolina.

Q: Tesla currently is producing 868,000 round cells weekly, the equivalent needed for 1,000 EVs — do you think Tesla will ramp up production in 2023? Share your thoughts.

4. General Motors is increasing the price of the Chevrolet Bolt EV and EUV, mentioning higher production costs. The price increase comes as the Bolt became eligible for the $7,500 tax credit under the Inflation Reduction Act.

5. Cepton unveiled the Vista-X120 Plus, a LiDAR system that enables software to adapt the region of interest remotely up to 120º wide and 25° of height. The hardware component occupies only 30 mm (1.18 inches).

6. A passenger is suing Southwest Airlines in New Orleans Federal Court for failure to reimburse for expenses. The airline canceled more than 16,000 flights during the holidays.

7. The U.K. government is investing £32.9M ($39.5M) in forming a network of experts in cycling and walkability. The Capability Fund aims to help local authorities design local travel programs with the input of local communities.

A message from ARRIVED

Unbelievable: a must-see real estate investing hack.

We know real estate has outperformed the S&P500 over the past 20 years as an asset class. Plus, it's tangible. But most don’t do it. You need massive upfront capital, it takes a ton of setup & expertise, and then you have to manage it. Exhausting.

Here's that secret hack: Arrived.

Arrived is an easy-to-use real estate investment platform offering SEC-qualified investments, and it’s backed by world-class investors like Jeff Bezos and Marc Benioff.

In a few clicks, you can:

  1. Browse properties (<1% make it through vetting): AirBnBs, long-term rentals, and more coming soon.
  2. Pick your favorites: invest anywhere between $100 to $50K per property.
  3. Boom: you're officially earning income and appreciation while Arrived manages your properties.

Both first-time investors and long-time real estate millionaires are flocking to Arrived, funding over 200 properties and $75M of property value since last year. Demand is high.

What’s holding you back?
