| Like many other cinephiles, I'm very concerned today about the fate of Turner Classic Movies, which Warner Bros. Discovery apparently plans to reorganize and fold in with its other cable networks. Obviously, WBD CEO David Zaslav is not a sentimentalist; he seems determined to wring every last ounce of value that he can from his WarnerMedia purchases, even if it rankles Steven Spielberg. It's just a corporate reorg, not a complete dismantling, but with new layoff news arriving every day, the writers strike in its second month, and high-profile TV shows launching with AI-designed opening credits, it's a tense time in entertainment and media. Everyone's walking on egg shells, waiting around for the next fight. So the threat to take away our late-night "All About Eve" reruns was maybe just one step too far. Enjoy today's issue. We'll be back tomorrow with the weekend calendar AND a Friday chart! Lon p/lon-harris | |

| 2 | | Warner Bros. Discovery will reorganize Turner Classic Movies (TCM) following the departure of the network's executive VP and general manager, Pola Changnon. Changnon has been in her current role since 2020, and has been with Warner Bros. for 25 years. More: - Current Adult Swim and Cartoon Network president Michael Ouweleen will take over at TCM, which he previously ran prior to Changnon.
- As part of the change, TCM will be more fully integrated in with WBD's other US cable networks.
- Many cinephiles and filmmakers expressed concern over the move, as TCM has become one of the last mainstream outlets for classic film distribution in the US.
- Directors Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Paul Thomas Anderson met privately with WBD CEO David Zaslav, and released a joint statement reassuring film fans about his ongoing commitment to "TCM and classic cinema."

| 4 | | In a wide-ranging and controversial discussion with The Hollywood Reporter, "Yellowstone" creator Taylor Sheridan opened up about Kevin Costner's decision to exit the franchise, along with his thoughts on the writers' strike and more. Sheridan told THR that he's "disappointed" by Costner's abrupt exit from the Western drama series, adding "it truncates the closure of his character. It doesn't alter it, but it truncates it." More: - Costner, who stars on "Yellowstone" as rancher and politician John Dutton, has opted to focus on his four-movie Western project "Horizon."
- The series will end following the second half of its fifth season, scheduled to air on cable later this year; Sheridan has a spinoff project in the works with Matthew McConaughey.
- Sheridan also discussed his preference for working alone; though he said specific negotiations on writers rooms were "between the studio and the guild," he noted that he would likely exit the TV industry if he were forced to collaborate with other writers.
