California politics is about to get a lot more exciting!

POLITICO California Playbook

Dear California Playbooker,

As a political insider and loyal reader of this newsletter, you already know that POLITICO has been making an impact in the Golden State for eight years now. We are about to do a lot more and are expanding in California in a big way.

We will cover Sacramento as we do Washington, with reporting centered around the three pillars at the heart of POLITICO — policy, politics and power.

Our aim is to be THE indispensable read for those who work in government or have an outsized professional interest in it. And that starts with California Playbook, which we have refreshed with new features and a sharpened focus on the scoops, stories and nuggets most important to a statewide audience of political insiders.

It is now driven by a new team of authors, Lara Korte and Dustin Gardiner. Together Lara and Dustin will take you inside California's political arena and deliver newsy scoops and buzzy whispers that you will not get anywhere else. As a loyal reader, you already know Lara from being in your inbox over the past year. Dustin joined POLITICO last month for this assignment from the San Francisco Chronicle where he covered the state Capitol and California politics. Dustin and Lara will leverage our growing team in Sacramento, anchored by Chris Cadelago, our California bureau chief. And Melanie Mason will infuse California Playbook with scoops and nuggets from Los Angeles, where she recently joined POLITICO after more than a decade at the Los Angeles Times. Together, these talented reporters will blanket the state's power centers and make California Playbook even more valuable and insightful for you.

There is nothing that you need to do — I just wanted you to be the first to know about this exciting period of growth for our California coverage and for California Playbook. If you aren't already signed up for the PM edition of California Playbook, subscribe now.

Enjoy!

Goli Sheikholeslami
CEO POLITICO
