1 Akamai launched API Security, a new solution that prevents API attacks and detects business logic abuse inside APIs. Additionally, it can discover, audit, and monitor API activity using behavioral analytics to respond to threats and abuse. According to a recent research report by Akamai, application and API attacks increased by 137% last year.

2 Android introduced advanced security features in Android 14 to enhance user protection against risks associated with cellular telephony, especially those related to 2G networks. A feature from Android 12 that allowed users to disable 2G at the modem level is now available to enterprises in Android 14, along with a user option for null-ciphered connections support.

3 GitHub announced the private beta of GitHub Copilot with code referencing that comes with a filter to identify code suggestions that align with publicly available code on its platform. Upon activating the filter, GitHub Copilot evaluates code suggestions within around 150 characters of surrounding code, compares it, and when it finds a match, provides a notification in the editor showing the matching code, repositories where it appears, and license governing each repository.

4 Microsoft plans to release .NET 8, a long-term support version, during the .NET Conf 2023 later this year between Nov. 14 and 16. The topics for this year's annual .NET event include unlocking the full potential of .NET in cloud-native environments, unleashing Blazor's capabilities, exploring multi-platform development through .NET MAUI, and integrating AI and ML into .NET applications.

5 The Go team released Go version 1.21, with a majority of changes focused on the implementation of the toolchain, runtime, and libraries. Changes to the Go language include three new built-ins to the language, accurate specification for package initialization order, and the addition of several enhancements to increase the power and precision of type inference.

6 The Python Package Index (PyPI) announced it is enforcing two-factor authentication (2FA) for newly registered users before they perform any management actions on PyPI, effective from Aug. 8. Earlier this year, the organization disclosed its plans to implement 2FA for all users by the end of this year.

7 Low-code web app development platform Reflex raised a $5M seed round led by Lux Capital with participation from Abstract Ventures, Box Group, Y Combinator, Picus Capital, Outset Capital, and a few other angel investors. Formerly known as Pynecone, Reflex is a Python-based contains two parts: an open-source framework for creating web apps and a hosting service.
