| 2 | | What the numbers say: As electric vehicles (EVs) continue to gain traction worldwide, Chinese EV manufacturers are rapidly approaching parity with traditional combustion engine vehicles. The Wuling Mini EV, priced at 32,000 yuan or $4,388, nearly matches the cost of the cheapest combustion engine vehicle, the Chery QQ Ice Cream, at 29,990 yuan or $4,112.95. Relevance: This convergence in pricing coincides with a strategic move by Chinese EV leaders to expand their global production presence, with a strong focus on Europe. Why it matters: UBS reported that the European market's immense size and the rapid adoption of EVs, expected to reach 100% of sales by 2035, are poised to catalyze the international expansion efforts of Chinese EV manufacturers. | | |
