| 1 | | Microsoft has unveiled its new AI assistant for Windows and its 365 productivity software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. More: - Copilot, powered by GPT-4, allows users to generate content by typing in text prompts.
- The rebranded "Microsoft Copilot in Windows" will serve as a personal assistant alongside the search bar on the Windows taskbar.
- Through the AI assistant, users can control elements of the desktop experience using voice or text commands.
- Copilot AI features will be integrated into several default Windows 11 apps, such as Photos and Paint.
- For Office, Microsoft will charge $30 per user per month for business accounts to access Copilot across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and other 365 apps.

| 2 | | Nearly 20% of jobs posted on Indeed are "highly exposed" to generative AI, meaning they require skills that can largely be replaced by the technology, according to Indeed's newly released AI at Work Report. What the numbers say: 45.7% of Indeed jobs have a moderate exposure level, where GenAI can perform between 50% and less than 80% of the required skills, while 34.6% are low/minimally exposed, with GenAI handling less than 50% of the skill requirements. Where to see the impact: Software development jobs have the greatest potential for GenAI augmentation, Indeed found, while driving jobs, such as truck and taxi drivers, are least affected by GenAI. Other jobs with minimal exposure include cleaning and sanitation and beauty and wellness roles, which tend to have limited remote work capabilities. Jobs with a higher potential for remote work are more susceptible to GenAI-driven transformations, according to Indeed. Still: Svenja Gudell, Indeed's chief economist, emphasized that GenAI is more likely to enhance or streamline specific parts of a job rather than completely replace it, suggesting that employers will likely adapt and reshape roles, even potentially creating new jobs, due to the rapid growth of GenAI. Q: What steps do you think employees can take to prepare for a job market increasingly influenced by AI and automation? Join the conversation here. | | |

| 3 | | Senate Minority Whip John Thune (R-S.D.) is expected to introduce a bill this week or next that would require AI companies to self-certify the safety of high-risk AI systems, Politico reports. The bill, in collaboration with Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), aims to adopt a "light-touch" approach to AI governance, Thune told the publication. More: - While not officially introduced, the legislation would require companies to evaluate the impact of their AI systems and certify that they're safe.
- Thune said the goal is to "mitigate against the riskiest applications of AI" with the "heavy hand of regulation" that could harm innovation.
- If passed, the U.S. Commerce Department would be responsible for enforcing the regulation.
- Thune and Klobuchar expect to gain additional Senate cosponsors before introducing the bill.

- Google collaborates with Broadcom on the AI chip design and has already enlisted the semiconductor firm for its sixth-gen processor.
- J.P. Morgan analysts previously estimated that Broadcom could earn $3B from Google this year due to increased TPU orders.
