| Good morning/afternoon and thanks for opening today's Inside Streaming... It's not exactly a surprise that FX has renewed "The Bear" for a third season, but it is pleasant news, as I'm a big fan of the restaurant-set comedy-drama series. (Both Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming now on Hulu.) The timing of the story is curious... surely, no deals have been worked out recently, due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. And while nothing can be certain about production times and schedules right now, the article confidently states the new episodes will debut at some point next year. It's likely these deals were all basically set up pre-strike, and FX knew they had no intention of canceling "The Bear" any time soon. But you'd hope for a bit more transparency from the trade write-ups about the deal. Why is this being reported now? When does FX reasonably think the actors will be able to return to set and make new episodes? Shouldn't all of this be part of the context of the show's renewal? Just kinda weird. Anyway, enjoy today's issue! Lon p/lon-harris | |
