| 1 | OpenAI unveiled GPT-4 Turbo and introduced a GPT app store at its first-ever developer conference. The much-hyped DevDay event, held today in San Francisco, attracted close to 1,000 developers, who came together "to explore tools and exchange ideas." More: - GPT-4 Turbo, now in API preview, is trained with data up to April 2023, an advancement over the earlier GPT-4, which used data only up to September 2021.
- Turbo's expanded 128K context window — equivalent to a 300-page book — allows it to comprehend longer inputs compared to earlier versions with context windows of 8K and 32K.
- The input cost for Turbo is $0.01 per 1,000 tokens, less than the $0.03 charged for GPT-4.
Zoom out: - OpenA also announced a personalized chatbot builder for individual ChatGPT users.
- Users can create custom chatbots, called "GPTs," for their own purposes or to share with others.
- Alongside the builder, OpenAI is introducing a GPT Store or marketplace for users to post personalized AI chatbots for public download.
- Eventually, users will be able to earn money from their apps based on usage statistics, according to OpenAI.

| 2 | | Elon Musk plans to integrate his AI startup, called xAI, with his social media platform X, formerly Twitter. xAI unveiled its first AI model, a bot called Grok, on Friday to select X users, tapping into the booming market for AI-powered chatbots. More: - xAI — which is working on AI tools to "assist humanity in its quest for understanding and knowledge" — will now be built into the X app, Musk said in a post on Sunday.
- xAI will also launch as a standalone app, he added, though he did not specify a release date, features, or pricing.
- xAI's first product, Grok, competes with market leaders such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google Bard, and Microsoft Bing AI.
- The chatbot, modeled after "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," was introduced as a "very early beta product" on Friday to select X users for testing and will eventually become part of X Premium+, its subscription service that costs $16 per month.
Features: - According to xAI, Grok is designed to provide witty and occasionally rebellious answers to questions, and it can respond to "spicy questions" that other chatbots might avoid.
- Musk said the Grok bot has a "massive advantage" over other AI models as it has "real-time access" to information on X.
- Tesla also plans to incorporate Grok AI as an assistant into its electric vehicles,

| 3 | | Microsoft is teaming up with Inworld AI to create AI-driven tools for Xbox developers, including an "AI design copilot" for scripting and dialogue. Despite concerns about job displacement in the gaming industry, Microsoft is touting the A tools as a way for developers to innovate, push boundaries, and improve gameplay. Details: Today, Microsoft and Inworld AI announced a multi-year partnership to develop generative AI game tools for Xbox developers. The collaboration will initially focus on two game development tools: an AI design copilot for generating scripts and quests from text prompts and an AI character runtime engine for dynamic in-game character interactions that are based on a player's actions. Quotable: Inworld AI CEO Ilya Gelfenbeyn said the emergence of generative AI and large language models have brought "new opportunities for storytelling and character engagement within games." He noted that AI could streamline gaming production, potentially speeding up game releases by saving time and resources. The bigger picture: A study conducted by global consulting firm Bain & Company predicts that generative AI's presence in game development, currently at less than 5%, will rise to 50% or more within the next five-to-10 years. Meanwhile, the generative AI in the gaming industry is expected to grow at a CAGR of 23.3%, reaching $7.1B by 2032. | | |
