| 3 | | A Los Angeles Superior Court judge dismissed a lawsuit filed by former Dawson's Creek actor James Van Der Beek against SiriusXM. Van Der Beek had accused SiriusXM of a breach of contract for a $700,000 podcast deal. More: - The judge ruled that SiriusXM "did not enter into a contract" with Van Der Beek because it was never finalized.
- Van Der Beek claimed that the agreement was reached over emails with executives at SiriusXM to host a podcast with 40 episodes for a minimum of $700,000 guaranteed. He claims he was also due a 50% cut of the net ad revenue.
- He initially brought this lawsuit to court in 2022 when he said SiriusXM walked away from the deal.
- The judge ruled that an April 2022 document that outlined the agreement but, on the first page, said it was for "discussion purposes only, is not a binding commitment in any respect, and is not to be interpreted in any respect as a binding commitment to negotiate" was not legally binding.
- Van Der Beek argued that the proposal was legally binding because of an email stating that terms were "officially closed."

- It expects to have scores for 10 times that many podcasts by 2025.
