| Good afternoon and thanks once again for opening today's Inside Streaming brief. Like everyone else, I'm curious to check out these 3D movies on the Apple Vision Pro headset. I have a Meta Quest 2 VR headset, and some of the games are fun, but I'll be honest... so far, the experience of watching films on the device has not really captured my imagination. It's not a SUPER comfortable way to watch something, compared with hanging out on your couch, and honestly it's not even particularly "immersive." I never feel like I'm truly being transported to a movie theater to enjoy something on the big screen. The whole experience feels a bit hollow. I'm hopeful that Apple gives the entire experience its trademark overhaul and upgrade, but with a sticker price of $3500, I'll be waiting a while to find out, most likely. Enjoy today's issue! | 5 | | A new report from the non-profit group the Center for Countering Digital Hate points to a shift in YouTube discourse around climate change. The survey suggests that videos outright rejecting climate science are on the wane, as skeptics have pivoted to more relevant arguments. More: - According to CEO Imran Ahmed, skeptics have shifted from arguing that climate change isn't happening to making the case that "there is no hope. There are no solutions."
- The Center used a "deep learning model" to analyze transcripts of more than 12,000 YouTube videos, taken from 96 channels that frequently feature "climate change denial content," such as right-wing news network Blaze TV and conservative think tank the Heartland Institute; results were then vetted by independent evaluators.
- According to the study, arguments that climate solutions "won't work" have increased 21.4% over the last five years, while videos making the case that global warming isn't occurring at all were down 34.3%.
- The Center argues that Google's current policies around climate misinformation don't go far enough, and should include what it terms "new denial," rejecting potential solutions to climate change that have a high degree of scientific consensus.
