1 GitLab's Global DevSecOps Report revealed the number of developers using AI/ML to check code has increased by 11% from last year. When asked about the biggest challenges in software development this year, 43% of security professionals pointed to testing happening too late in the development cycle as a primary concern, down from 48% in 2022.

2 David Weston, director of OS security at Windows, announced at BlueHat IL 2023 in Tel Aviv that Microsft is rewriting core Windows libraries in Rust and that Windows would boot with Rust in the kernel in the next few weeks or months. He added that rewriting Windows in Rust would not happen anytime soon.

3 Swift released the preview version of the Foundation framework on GitHub to provide the building blocks for the unified implementation of Foundation. According to Swift, the preview release provides improved performance over the previous C and Objective-C versions and improves decoding time from 200% to almost 500%.

4 The Rust development team released Rust version 1.69.0 with no major new features but with many small improvements, including over 3,000 commits from 500 contributors. New features include the cargo fix subcommand, introduced in Rust 1.29, which now automatically fixes compiler warnings, and debug information is no longer part of build scripts by default.

5 According to Apple, the iOS App Store has 101 million users in Europe, while iPadOS and macOS have 23 million and 6 million users, respectively. Apple shared the data in compliance with the European Digital Services Act, which forced it to reveal the number of monthly active users in the region.

6 Digital transformation company Digital.ai launched Corbett, the latest release of its AI-powered DevOps platform. Corbett enables teams to leverage AI to eliminate siloed reports and analytics and includes persona-based dashboards to analyze historical data for each stage of application development and delivery.

7 Cloud and endpoint cybersecurity platform Uptycs added support for GitHub audit logs and user identity information to identify and stop attackers before they access data and services in the cloud. The early warning system enables customers to track and analyze malicious activity from a single user interface (UI), including endpoints, cloud, containers, and code repositories like GitHub.
