| Happy Monday, Inside Streamers! Each time a new team plays a big "streaming exclusive" game, like this weekend's Ohio State-Purdue matchup -- available only on Peacock -- social media is hit with wave after wave of complaints from viewers. It's understandable; no one wants to be told they have to pay MORE for TV just to watch one piece of programming. It seems inevitable that sports leagues are going to have no choice but to figure out ways to make marquee live events available to all, without requiring fans to pay for every streaming service, or shift their subscription plans every time media rights jump around. Disney's attempting to figure some of this out with their plans to turn ESPN+ into a centralized hub for all streaming sports, but they're already running into rights-related complications. It's a real mess that could take many years to untangle, if it ever gets fully worked out. Enjoy today's issue! Lon p/lon-harris | |

| 2 | | Apple canceled the mystery-comedy series "The Afterparty." The show's second season wrapped up about one month ago. More: - Sony Pictures Television, which developed and produced the series for Apple, plans to shop it around to other networks and streamers.
- Each season of "The Afterparty" concerned a murder at a gathering; each episode tracked the experiences of an individual character over the course of the night, and parodied a different film or TV genre.
- Filmmakers Chris Miller and Phil Lord executive produced the series; Miller also created the concept.
- While Season 1 was a breakout hit for Apple, Season 2's reception this summer was more muted; Deadline suggests it may have suffered from competition against Season 3 of Hulu's star-studded and similarly-themed "Only Murders in the Building."
- Apple reportedly has also been reconsidering its post-strike programming line-up.

This was the first time that an Ohio State Buckeyes football game wasn't available to view on linear television since 1997. More: - The Big Ten conference signed an overall $7 billion media deal in August of 2022; though many games are available to view on Fox, NBC, and CBS, some are now Peacock exclusives.
- A number of beloved college football teams have played in games that didn't air on TV this year; the list also includes Michigan, Penn State, and Michigan State.
- On social media, a number of fans complained about the need to pay $5.99/month for a Peacock subscription, and about the streamer's coverage of the game itself.

- Adult Swim fired Roiland earlier this year after he was charged with domestic violence in Orange County, California; the district attorney's office ultimately dismissed the charge due to a lack of evidence.
