| 1 | | According to the sixth annual Python Developers Survey, the percentage of developers using Python increased YoY. The Python Software Foundation and JetBrains conducted the survey among 23,000 Python developers and enthusiasts. More: - Python 2 usage was 25% in 2017 and declined to 5% in 2021 before rising to 7% last year.
- JavaScript (37%) is the most popular programming language along with Python, followed by HTML (36%), SQL (34%), and Bash (31%).
- More than half (51%) of respondents use Python for work and personal use, and one in five use it only for work-related projects.
- 22% of developers are using Python for web development. Data analysis (18%), machine learning (12%), and DevOps (10%) are the other use cases of Python.

| 2 | | Android announced the release of Android 14 and the addition of Android 14 source to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). Android 14 is now available on Pixel devices and will be available later this year on Samsung Galaxy, iQOO, OnePlus, Oppo, and other devices. More: - Dave Burke, VP of Engineering, said in the announcement post that Android 14 aims to improve developer productivity and enhance performance, privacy, security, and customization for users.
- To improve performance and efficiency, Android 14 freezes cached applications, adjusts how apps receive context-registered broadcasts to keep applications in a cached state, and reduces the memory footprint.
- New customization features include bigger fonts with non-linear scaling, regional preferences for users, and the ability to use LocalManager.setOverrideLocaleConfig function to dynamically update an app's displayed languages in the per-app language list.
- Android 14 introduces data sharing transparency, partial media access control, background activity launching privileges, runtime receiver declaration, and more for privacy and security enhancements.

| A message from our sponsor, Paragon. | | | Can't keep up with your customers' requests for integrations? Read this Build vs. Buy: Native Integrations Guide Your B2B SaaS company needs to provide seamless native integrations to sell into the market today. Look at the leaders in every category. HubSpot, Atlassian, Slack - all of these companies built moats around their integration ecosystem. However, the engineering effort required to build and maintain dozens of native integrations is significant, which is why companies backlog these requests. This leaves revenue on the table from the closed lost deals against competitors, churn, and a lack of upsell levers. Embedded integration platforms streamline the integration development process, but adopting one isn't an easy decision - there are tradeoffs you need to consider. Read our in-depth comparison guide below that covers the factors your engineering team needs to consider when making a Build vs. Buy decision. Get the guide | |

| 3 | | At its DockerCon event, Docker launched three new products — Docker Debug, Docker Build, and Docker Scout. The new offerings complement existing products such as Docker Desktop and Docker Hub. More: - Docker Scout provides developers with insights, policy evaluation, and contextual remediation, along with integrations with Sysdig, JFrog Artifactory, AWS ECR, GitHub, GitLab, etc., to improve software quality and reduce context switching.
- Docker Build significantly accelerates the build processes by up to 39 times through the automated utilization of cloud-based servers and team-wide build caching.
- Docker Debug offers an integrated toolbox for debugging local and remote containerized apps to streamline the process and save up to 60% of developers' debugging time.
- Docker Scout is generally available, while the other two products are in the pubic beta phase.
