| Hello once again and thanks for opening today's Inside Streaming. It's so silly that we still can't stream the Oscar ceremony online. Even live sports have, at this point, mostly migrated over to streaming platforms in some shape or form. If we can watch the Super Bowl on Paramount+, the Independent Spirit Awards on YouTube, and the Netflix Cup on Netflix, why is Hollywood's supposedly BIGGEST NIGHT limited to your local ABC affiliate? It feels archaic in 2024, and forces otherwise law-abiding citizens to poke around the internet for bootleg streams just to see the ceremony. I have no idea why Disney hasn't worked out a deal with the Academy to stream these annual events on Hulu or Disney+ but it's long past time. They're losing tens of millions in ad revenue to Twitch streamers and pirate phishing scams at this point. Just dumb. Lon p/lon-harris | |
