| Thanks for opening today's Inside Streaming brief. Do we really need another "Happy Gilmore" installment? I'm in the target age range for most of this 2024 nostalgia craze. I loved "Beetlejuice" and the Ghostbusters when I was a kid. I watched that original "X-Men" animated series when it debuted. I'm not immune to the pleasures of feeling like a kid again, even if just briefly, while watching an old TV show. But it's just... I don't know... enough already? Adam Sandler has been making so much interesting new stuff with Netflix, from the slice-of-life basketball drama "Hustle" to the zany "Hubie Halloween" to the animated musical "Leo" to the metaphysical sci-fi "Spaceman." It seems limiting and reductive to make him revisit goofy nonsense he did in 1996. Plus one of the real highlights of the original film is Carl Weathers' performance as Chubbs, which he'll be unable to revisit. What's the point? Lon p/lon-harris | |

- Puck reports that no concrete discussions have taken place concerning Costner's return, but that it's nonetheless possible the scripts will be re-considered again to include him, even if only for a cameo.
- Puck also suggest that Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly -- set to appear in a "Yellowstone" spinoff called "2024" -- are still negotiating with Paramount for higher salaries, apparently in the range of $1 million per episode.
