| Hello again and thanks for opening today's Inside Streaming! I went to see The Magnetic Fields play last night in Downtown LA. It was a great show, in which they revisited the first disc from their epic 1999 three-volume concept album "69 Love Songs." During intermission, I went to grab a drink and noticed Wes the PA from Netflix's "Nailed It!" by the bar. I sort of assumed I was the only one who would recognize this supporting player from a humorous streaming reality baking competition series, and tried to play it cool. But by the end of intermission, Wes was fending off fans left and right, and I saw him again after the show taking photos with people. I'm not sure if this reflects on the massive popularity of tons of random Netflix content, to the point that even supporting "Nailed It!" players get swarmed in public, or if it says something about The Magnetic Fields and unscripted Netflix content sharing a demographic. But it did kind of surprise me nonetheless, especially in LA, where people are sometimes hesitant to approach celebrities in public. Enjoy today's issue! Lon p/lon-harris | |
