According to a report in The Information, Amazon is working on a standalone streaming app, focused specifically on sports content. The goal would apparently be the declutter Prime Video and highlight livestreams from the NFL, Premier League, and the New York Yankees. More: CEO Andy Jassy has repeatedly stressed the central importance of live sports content to Amazon's future plans. No further details about the new app and how it might impact the Prime membership program were made available. Amazon pays an estimated $1 billion annually for the exclusive streaming rights to NFL Thursday Night Football; YouTube recently outbid the company for the rights to the NFL Sunday Ticket package. According to the streamer's internal numbers, the mystery-comedy sequel "Glass Onion" was viewed for 82.1 million hours in its first three days on Netflix. That was good enough for second place on the platform's US Top Movies chart for the entire week of December 19-25. More: Overall, Netflix estimates that around 35 million households have tuned into the film so far. "Glass Onion" received a limited theatrical release over the Thanksgiving weekend, and pulled in around $15 million at the box office. Based on these early numbers, it's unclear how well "Glass Onion" will perform on Netflix long-term; it had a similar debut to the 2021 Sandra Bullock drama "The Unforgivable," but could see a sharp increase in viewership over the post-Christmas week. In its first five days of availability, Season 3 of "Emily in Paris" hit #2 on Netflix's Top TV chart in the US; the "Addams Family" spinoff "Wednesday" remained in the top spot. VARIETY

In an interview with gaming magazine SFX, "The Last of Us" creator and showrunner Neil Druckmann said the HBO adaptation will scale back on the game's graphic violence. While Druckmann felt that some violent scenes made the game more visceral and immersive, he and series co-creator Craig Mazin agreed that the show should only feature gore when it was "very essential," which "makes it scarier." A British government agency, the Intellectual Property Office (IPO), announced on Tuesday that the practice of sharing Netflix passwords is against the law. Though Netflix plans to begin cracking down on password sharing this year, it has never indicated any intention to take legal action against users. More: According to the IPO, sharing streaming passwords with people from different households violates both criminal and civil law, though Netflix would have to pursue a civil case. Research firm Digital i estimates that about four million people in the UK -- around a quarter of the nation's total Netflix subscribers -- share their passwords with at least one person outside their home. Former Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries revealed in May that she was among the offenders. BBC
