A message from PIPE “This is going to fundamentally change how we raise money and how we scale…” Founders and business owners face one challenge after another as they grow. One of the biggest is finding a way to finance growth without giving away too much equity, taking on restrictive covenants, or being pulled away from the business to fundraise. When MUD\WTR co-founders Paul DeJoe and Shane Heath saw 400% growth in their first year, they couldn’t spend all their time raising rounds to finance that rapid growth: “Being able to Pipe millions of dollars before we went to fundraise not only allowed us to focus and not worry about day-to-day cash, but it also showed investors that we had access to this capital anytime we wanted,” says DeJoe. Interoperability is a key element in the upcoming metaverse platforms. Security and trust will need to be established in the virtual worlds, and the security community must ensure a safe work, shop, and play environment. More: - The upcoming metaverse ecosystem is not immune to identity theft and fraud, and companies that are building the metaverse must plan ahead to avoid these issues in the future.
- Identity fraud and theft are where intruders strike first. For example, in the future, an avatar of a teller in a virtual bank lobby could be collecting your information.
- Identifying related issues should be a top concern for companies, with multi-factor authentication and passwordless authentication built into platforms.
- IPs, cloud providers, and device manufacturers all recognize that they need to work together to implement a strategy in the early days and tackle security issues in the metaverse.
- Transparency and interoperability are crucial in the metaverse to make experiences more secure and trustworthy.
- Data management will also be key to improving authentication and pinpointing malicious activity.

Metaverse Fashion Week: The popular event that was hosted by Decentraland had virtual catwalks, cocktail parties, gallery openings, and DJs. Big luxury designers like Perry Ellis, Doce & Gabbana, and Tommy Hilfiger were among the featured designers at the three-day event. More: - At the "Metaverse Cocktail Hour for Fasionistxs," avatars were dressed in high-end designer "looks."
- Over 1,000 people registered over the weekend to attend the event.
- Much of the novelty of virtual events was apparent during the COVID-19 lockdowns, but they might slow down as more people start going to in-person events.
- The lineup promised multiple days' worth of events, from fashion shows to exclusive parties, but is it compelling enough for someone to spend their entire weekend in the metaverse? The answer is that we don't know yet and will have to wait to see how society adopts the virtual worlds over the years.
