Netflix grabbed the rights to "The Electric State," the new film from "Avengers: Endgame" duo Joe and Anthony Russo. "Stranger Things" vet Millie Bobby Brown is attached to star, while Chris Pratt is currently in negotiations to join the project. More: The film is based on an illustrated novel by Simon Stålenhag; "Endgame" writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely penned the adaptation. Brown will star as an orphaned teenager in a retro-futuristic past, searching the American West for her younger brother with the aid of a mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter. The Russos next film, the action-thriller "The Gray Man," hits theaters on July 15 and debuts on Netflix the following week. Stålenhag's work previously inspired the Amazon series "Tales from the Loop."  DEADLINE

Filmmaker Rian Johnson's "Knives Out" sequel -- formally titled "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" -- will debut at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). This year marks the 47th edition of TIFF, and its return as an in-person event. More: Daniel Craig reprises his role as Detective Benoit Blanc in the film; the cast also includes Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista. The new film is set in Greece. Johnson's original "Knives Out" screenplay was Oscar-nominated in 2020; Netflix acquired two sequels for the film as part of a $469 million deal. HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

DAILY CALENDAR WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29 ALL STAR SHORE: Debut "party competition" series bringing together veterans of a number of reality shows -- including "Jersey Shore," "Bachelor in Paradise," "Love is Blind," "RuPaul's Drag Race," "LoveIsland," "The Circle," "Geordie Shore," and more -- to live together in a Canary Islands beach house and square off in a string of boozy themed challenges. "Jersey Shore" vet Pauly D narrates. [Paramount+] BAYMAX!: Animated series, spun off from the 2014 film "Big Hero 6," following the medical helper robot Baymax (Scott Adsit) as he assists people across San Fransokyo while pursuing an orange kitty cat. Ryan Potter, Maya Rudolph, Zeno Robinson, and Jaboukie Young-White co-star. [Disney+] THE OWL HOUSE: The animated fantasy series airs on The Disney Channel; the first five Season 2 episodes debuted last summer and come to Disney+ today. The show follows the adventures of Luz Noceda (Sarah-Nicole Robles), a human girl who finds her way into the Demon Realm and befriends a rebellious witch (Wendie Malick), known as the Owl Lady. [Disney+] THE UPSHAWS: The multi-camera comedy series about a Black working-class family in Indiana returns today for the first part of its second season. The cast includes Mike Epps, Kim Fields, Wanda Sykes, Khali Spraggins, Jermelle Simon, Diamond Lyons, and Gabrielle Dennis. Regina Y. Hicks ("Girlfriends") co-created the series with Sykes and serves as showrunner. [Netflix] BEAUTY: Period drama feature starring Grace Marie Bradley as a young singer in '80s New Jersey who finds herself torn between her career, her domineering family, and her beloved girlfriend after being offered a lucrative recording contract. The cast also features Niecy Nash, Aleyse Shannon, Giancarlo Esposito, and Sharon Stone; Lena Waithe wrote the script. [Netflix] PIRATE GOLD OF ADAK ISLAND: Reality series following a team of treasure hunters searching for a rumored $350 million in buried gold on an island off Alaska's southern coast. The only problem: the island remains riddled with unexploded bombs left over from WWII. The cast includes Jay Toomoth and Burke Mitchell. [Netflix] EXTRAORDINARY ATTORNEY WOO: Debut legal drama series from South Korea, starring Park Eun-bin as "the smartest lawyer in South Korea with an autism spectrum disorder." Kang Tae-oh and Kang Ki-young co-star. [Netflix]

Amazon ordered a sequel to the classic 1980s sitcom "Who's the Boss?" for the ad-supported Freevee service. Alyssa Milano and Tony Danza are both attached to reprise their roles from the original show. More: The new series finds Milano's Samanta Micelli still living with father Tony (Danza) in the house where she grew up, now as a single mom. No word yet on whether or not original series regulars Judith Light or Danny Pintauro plan to make appearances on the new series; Katherine Helmond, who played Mona in the original series, passed away in 2019. Original producer Norman Lear is also attached to the new series through his company, Act III Productions; Lear also recently collaborated on a revival of his classic sitcom "One Day at a Time." Apple's post-apocalyptic drama series "See" will conclude after its upcoming third season. The final episodes of "See" premiere on Apple TV+ on August 26. More: Jason Momoa stars in the series as a tribal leader in a dystopian future in which humans have lost their sense of vision. Season 3 will pick up nearly a year after the conclusion of Season 2, and centers on the invention of a new form of sighted weaponry. Showrunner and executive producer Jonathan Tropper told The Hollywood Reporter that he hoped to produce "a deeply satisfying conclusion to our story" full of "intense drama, riveting action, and heartfelt emotion." MacLachlan, Mendes-Jones, Moten Several actors joined the cast of Amazon's series adaptation of the "Fallout" video game franchise, including "Twin Peaks" vet Kyle MacLachlan. No word yet on whom the actors will be playing or any specific details about the show's plot. More: Newcomer Xelia Mendes-Jones and "Father Stu" vet Aaron Moten also signed on for undisclosed roles. Ella Purnell and Walton Goggins were previously cast in the series. The "Fallout" games are set in an alternate reality, in which a retro vision of the future was decimated by a nuclear war. Production on the "Fallout" series is scheduled to begin later this year; "Westworld" vets Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan are attached as executive producers, with Nolan directing the pilot episode. HBO Max posted a trailer for the third season of the adult animated comedy series "Harley Quinn." The first three new episodes arrive on July 28. More: The new episodes will pick up where Season 2 left off, with supervillains Harley (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) deciding to explore their romantic feelings for one another. Adventures taking place during the gap between seasons are covered in the tie-in DC comic book "The Eat Bang Kill Tour" by Tee Franklin and Max Sarin. Season 3 will feature a cameo from filmmaker James Gunn, voicing himself; Gunn directed the film "The Suicide Squad," featuring the Harley Quinn character. EW
