2 | What the numbers say: More than 3/4 of people in the survey said that they listen to podcasts for relaxation. Just under half of them said they listen to podcasts to fall asleep to. But more than 64% of those people who use podcasts to fall asleep don't change their podcasts from what they listen to during the day. So comedy, true crime, history, news, and whatever else they listen to is what they fall asleep to. Relevance: Acast released a research piece called "Dreams to Dollars," which highlighted just how many people listen to podcasts as they are falling asleep each night. This was a blog post that highlighted how advertisers should still consider ad spending in podcasting because, even when listeners are listening to go to sleep, they're still listening. Acast surveyed around 500 people over the course of the entire month of July about their listening habits and found that 54% of listeners who listen to podcasts to fall asleep remembering hearing an ad the next day. More data: 35% of those listeners who remember hearing the ad made the purchase the next day. Nearly 1/3 of respondents said it took them more than 30 minutes to actually fall asleep when they listen to a podcast, meaning there's plenty of time for advertisers to get their messages out. Also, 43% of listeners are less likely to skip an ad if they're listening to it while falling asleep. | | |
