Apple reported its most profitable quarter in history in fiscal Q1. The company posted a record-breaking $123.9B in revenue, an increase of 11% YoY, as well as $34.6B in profits, significantly beating projections. More: - The revenue for the October-through-December period topped the $111B Apple reported during the 2020 holiday season.
- During an earnings call Thursday, CEO Tim Cook said Apple now has 1.8 billion active devices worldwide, up from 1.65 billion a year ago and 1.5 billion in January 2020.
- In October, Cook said larger-than-expected supply constraints, driven by chip shortages and manufacturing issues, cost the company $6B in the September quarter.
- However, the company appeared to navigate many of the supply problems and benefitted from the release of the iPhone 13 and other new products.
- In Q1, Apple generated an all-time high of $71.6B in revenue from iPhone sales, up more than 9% from the year-ago quarter.
- Cook forecasts that Apple will be "less constrained" by supply issues in the current quarter.

Uncovering the space rocks, which are fragments from asteroids and other planetary bodies, could provide researchers with more information about the origins and evolution of the Solar System. More: - Extraterrestrial rocks are more likely to be preserved and discovered in Antarctica's icy landscape.
- To better locate them, researchers trained an AI system with satellite data as well as data about "blue" ice fields in Antarctica.
