1 | The State of WebAssembly 2023 survey report sponsored by Scott Logic indicates that Rust is the most frequently used language for WebAssembly. Rust retained its top position for the third year in a row, followed by JavaScript, C++, and Go. More: - The survey discovered a strong desire among developers to use Zig for developing WebAssembly applications, along with Kotlin and C#.
- The most widely used WebAssembly runtime was wasmtime, with wasmer, wasm3, and wasmedge the other commonly used runtimes.
- The survey highlighted the rise in the use of WebAssembly for serverless and as a plug-in environment compared to the surveys in 2021 and 2022.
- Over 40% of respondents are using WebAssembly in production, and almost 30% are piloting or planning to use it next year.

2 | A storage bug is targeting Android 14's multiple profiles feature users, making their devices unusable due to locked-out device storage. The issue first appeared on Pixel 6 and has now expanded to other devices such as Pixel 6a, 7,7a, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet. More: - Users experiencing the bug reported receiving messages like "Failed to open directory/data/media/0: Structure needs cleaning," while others reported boot looping, getting stuck on the "Pixel is starting…" message, and other error messages.
- Several users also reported their phones automatically performing a factory reset, deleting all the data on their devices.
- Users who are experiencing the bug have compared it to a ransomware attack.
- The Google issue tracker for the bug has over 350 replies but has not received a response from Google yet.

3 | The team behind Yarn announced the release of version 4.0 with the aim to decrease its learning curve and improve user experience. Facebook introduced Yarn in 2016 in collaboration with Google as an alternative client for the npm registry. More: - The latest iteration of Yarn introduces Hardened Mode, an enhanced security feature with two additional validations to help developers prevent unauthorized changes to lockfiles when making PRs to a project using Yarn.
- The Hardened Mode verifies that the resolutions stored in the lockfile are consistent with the defined ranges and validates the package metadata stored in the lockfile to match the remote registry metadata.
- Further, Yarn deprecated its Prolog-based constraints engine in favor of a new JavaScript-based engine with optional TypeScript support for simplifying the constraints feature and making it accessible.
- Other features include improved user experience and performance enhancements, making it significantly faster at installs than version 3.6.

4 | Chkk emerged from stealth and announced the general availability of its Kubernetes Availability Platform, which aims to simplify maintaining Kubernetes clusters. The startup also announced raising a $5.2M seed round led by Sequoia Capital. More: - Chkk's platform, driven by Collective Learning technology, enables developers to proactively identify and prioritize availability risks to prevent incidents and creates pre-verified upgrade plans to address potential risks and speed up upgrades.
- The platform offers three modules: the Risk Ledger, which identifies, prioritizes, and addresses availability risks; Artifact Register, which discovers and maps all container images, registries, tools, etc.; and Upgrade Copilot, which plans and executes cluster, add-on, and application upgrades.
- The Kubernetes Availability Platform seeks to address the difficulty administrators face in keeping track of all components in a cluster.
- The California-based startup intends to use the fresh capital to recruit more employees and enhance its platform.
